KAZU COSTUME GATHERING

After months of planning kazu costume party was held at Holiday lodge Hotel Jerudong last saturday night. Kazu means Cousin United which comprise of Nephews, Niece , in laws from The Latif Family, together there are 84 cousins in the Latif families. BUKIT TERAJA , MUKIM LABI

Bukit Teraja is located about 87km from Kuala Belait town. It is one of the natural (Beauty) yet to be discover in Mukim Labi. You have to get to Rumah Panjang Teraja which is located at the far end of Mukim Labi. One of the natural beauty found in Bukit Teraja is the Waterfall and ‘Wasai’. It takes about 45 mins hiking from Rumah Panjang Teraja Mukim Labi and you have to be physically fit to reach the waterfall and ‘Wasai’.

A special budget was allocated to developed Bukit Teraja to transform it to a recreational centre similar to Wasai Wong Kadir which is now under the maintenance of Jabatan Alam Sekitar dan Taman Rekreasi (JASTRE).

Last Sunday personnels from the Belait District Office headed by Awang Haji Mohamad bin Haji Abd Rahman went to Bukit Teraja to have a closer look at the natural beauty of the area.

Reputed to be one of the highest hills in the Labi area, Bukit Teraja rewards the climbers with fine views over the Baram valley to the north and and Gunung Mulu.

ROAD SAFETY ROADSHOW - TELL A FRIEND

A road safety roadshow with the theme of TELL A FRIEND was launched today in OGDC Seria by the YDM Pehin Datu Perkerma Setia Diraja Dato Seri Paduka Awang Zainuddin bin Jalani, Police commissioner Of Brunei Darussalam.

In his speech, the numbers of road traffic offenders has triple over the past few year where statistics shown that most accidents and fatalities in Brunei Darussalam are cause by speeding, not wearing seatbelts and helmets, usage of Mobile phone while driving.

The TELL A FRIEND theme is part of Brunei Shell Petroleum road safety Programe that urged road users to adhere with traffic rules as mention above and we/road user should cascade it to our families, friends about the dangers and consequences of violating the traffic regulations.

Therefore please buckle up the seatbelts (driver & Passenger), Do not use mobile phone while driving, adhere to the speed limits, be courtesy on the road and the most important thing is Doa for your safety,passengers and other road users.

REPLIKA SUMBANGSIH BERKONSEP KIRI

Kiri adalah sejenis cerek yang merupakan artifak warisan masyarakat Melayu Brunei. Ianya diperbuat daripada tembaga dan mempunyai perbagai lorekan kesenian Brunei seperti motif bunga air mulih, biji timun, belah rotan tumbuh-tumbuhan dan sebagainya. ‘Kiri’ yang pernah ditemui berusia lebih kurang 275 tahun. Ia digunakan oleh masyarakat Melayu Brunei sebagai bekas menyimpan air untuk hidangan di majlis-majlis keramaian seperti majlis doa arwah, doa selamat, mengambil air wuduk, mencuci kaki pengantin dan kegunaan seharian. ‘Kiri’ ini sekarang ditempatkan di Muzium Brunei.

Replika ini adalah sumbangan ikhlas daripada Syarikat Brunei Shell Sendirian Berhad kepada Daerah Belait sempena Tahun Melawat Brunei 2001

Ianya di serahkan ke pihak kerajaan pada Hari Khamis 27 Rabiulakhir 1422 Hijrah bersamaan 19 Julai 2001 Masehi

Replika Sumbangsih berbentuk “Kiri” berkonsepkan sebagai:-

Lambang sambutan hormat kepada tetamu yang berkunjung ke Daerah Belait, tetamu yang datang akan dihidangkan minuman dan disambut dengan ramah, mesra dan hormat. Sikap pemedulian ini merupakan identiti budaya masyarakat Brunei.

Melambangkan kebudayaan dan kraftangan asli Brunei. Isi didalamnya melambangkan sumber-sumber utama negara yang menjadikan penjana kepada perkembangan dan kemajuan negara bagi kesejahteraan keharmonian dan kemakmuran rakyat dan penduduk negara ini.

Empat biji cawan melambangkan empat buah Daerah yang terdapat di negara ini. Daerah Brunei Muara, Belait, Tutong dan Temburong dengan kebudayaannya tersendiri.

Aliran air yang keluar dari muncung ‘Kiri’ dan jatuh kedalam cawan melambangkan sumber-sumber kekayaan negara yang sentiasa dinikmati disetiap daerah.

Seni bina lanskap melambangkan keprihatinan terhadap pemeliharaan dan kehijauan alam semula jadi yang indah, cantik dan bersih.
